Overview:
"Always two there are, a master and an
apprentice. No more, no less." Given these words of Yoda, it should be
no surprise that this is such a small team - only four people are
represented! The Sith are an expensive group, as only the Emperor and
Count Dooku are less than 30 points. The only way to build an All-Sith
team is to deny support to its most powerful figure - Armored Darth
Vader. Because the Sith lack any Launchers or Troopers, they have to
find support from another team. Or, more likely, they are better at
providing some other team with Striker support.
Strikers:
The Sith have a very
powerful Striker in S1 Darth Vader, as well as a low cost option in
Count Dooku. Darth Sidious has great defense and is tough to take down,
but he moves too slowly at only 8 tix. Darth Maul can be tough to
master, and I've seen (and heard of) several that have a weak strike.
Series 1 Starter Darth Vader has a pretty strong attack, but could be
tough to find if you don't already have him.
Launchers:
Having no Launcher
options (not even a Force Blaster) makes this a tough challenge for the
Sith team. The hole here really relegates the Sith to a supplemental
team only.
Other:
The Emperor has a unique
attack - Possession. If his base comes in contact with the base of an
opponent's figure, he can latch onto it and possess it. Then, as long
as the Emperor stays put, you control that figure. With the way the
Series 1 Starter Guide was written, I think Hasbro really expected this
to be an amazing attack. In my experience, it was a failure for two
reasons. One, eight speed makes it pretty tough for the Emperor to
actually get to anyone. In our house he was often killed before he even
got close to the opponent. Two, he has no . I think he would've been great with a power that relied on Sith. Even 31% would've been nice. He also would
benefit greatly from 12 speed. I think it's unfortunate that someone as
powerful as the Emperor gets such a weak figure.
Special Powers:
Half of the Sith have , the best in the game. S1 Darth Vader checks in at 62%, Sidious at 62%, and Dooku
at 31%. Because Vader needs Troopers and Sidous can also benefit from
Separatists, a natural alliance could occur here... but the Separatists
are the weakest team in all of Attacktix. Darth Maul's power (54%) has a few stipulations - it only works against Jedi (although it works against any Jedi - your choice) and he requires you to have a Leader in play. The
Sith have three Leaders - Darth Sidious, Count Dooku, and S1 Starter
Darth Vader. S1 Starter Darth Vader has a high power (77%) that requires a Trooper. The Emperor has no Special Power.
Effects:
Only the Medic Droid would be much help
to this team, as it's always great to bring S1 Darth Vader back from
the defeated area.
Other Figures:
While it may
look odd, Agen Kolar would make a good addition to any team sporting a
S1 Darth Vader. S1 Darth Vader is a Warrior, so Agen Kolar could get
him back into the game. Other than the Medic Droid, there's no other
figure that could potentially S1 Darth Vader. The Imperial Royal Guard can if there's a Sith in play, so there is a natural connection there.
That, combined with the need for Troopers as support, also brings the
Stormtrooper into play. And really, is there any other figure that
should be supporting Darth Vader??
Palpatine would also be a good figure to
join the Sith team. First, he is a Launcher. Second, he is a Separatist
and can support Darth Sidous' Recover power. Finally, his own Special
Power is (38%) that requires a Sith be in play.
Suggested Teams:
Pretty tough to make a stand-alone Sith
team. It'd be all Strikers, and it would have to exclude S1 Darth
Vader. Due to that, I won't try and make a Sith-exclusive team. |
